building a home

I was trying to organize my bookmarks and nearly deleted a link to a little project Aldo and I had last year for a filmmaker.

How do you stay close to the person you love
when she lives on the other side of the world?
You build a website together!

By some bizaare twist of fate,
Donna Adisen found our old website last year and decided to use us as subjects in her 8 minute documentary about unconventional homes -- building a home on the internet -- entitled Homepage Housewarming. Unfortunately though, she never got the funds to support her little documentary.   Here's to all the other couples in long distace relationships: may we all work our way towards building a real home with our significant others!

wedding update #1

Thanks to previous trips we've made together, Aldo and I are doing considerably well with The Wedding. So far, it's been the most complicated thing we've had to work on together. Apart from the fact that we're both not in Manila to physically check out venues, suppliers, and accomplish requirements, our basic wedding preparations are interspersed with immigration papers. But despite the arguments, Excel sheets, to-do lists, and the stress over all the preparations, I wouldn't have it any other way. =)

What we've come up with so far:

November Trip
Pamanhikan -- November 24, 2004 in Manila.
Tickets -- pre-booked
Tentative schedule -- done
List of suppliers to see/visit -- in progress
Birth certificates, Certificate of Freedom to Marry (or whatever it's called), marriage license requirements -- done

Church Wedding
Mary The Queen -- accomplish list of requirements
Reception -- still looking for a venue with white walls and floor to ceiling windows, but we're already pre-booked with Edsa Shangri-la c/o Sam
Sponsors -- schedule visits
Photographer -- make appointments with short-listed photogs mid-October
Collaterals -- design/monogram c/o Aldo
Favor boxes -- samples from Wedding Things c/o Aldo

Thank God for free office internet and e-mail! =)
